I can't believe that it's already December 2, it seems like life goes by quicker and quicker the older I get. Michael and I have been living in DC for almost 9 months and really love living here. We feel so blessed to be living in such a beautiful city and to have jobs that we love. We've also been able to make some really great friends that we know we'll friends with forever.

Since I know I'll never be able to fully catch up, I'm going to go over some highlights from the past few months.

*We went to New York over Labor Day weekend and hung out with Reghan and Kristian. We love having them so close to us, I've seen Reghan more this year than I have over the past 5+ years.

*Michael and I love to eat good food. Lucky for us DC has a plethora of the best restaurants. The Washingtonian comes out with a 'cheap eats' guide every year that lists the best restaurants around the DC, Virginia, Maryland area. So, we spent a lot of time scoping out new places to eat this fall.

*We ate a lot of pumpkin everything this year, mostly from Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's just makes life better around our house.

*We also went to our first Truckeroo. Food truck's are everywhere in DC and in the summer once a month all of the food trucks get together in a huge parking lot and they have bands play and basically you just get to eat!

*October was also full of visitors. First, one of Michael's best friends Tony and his girlfriend came to town for a weekend.

*My dad came in town the next weekend and we went to Theodore Roosevelt island for the first time.

*The next week we had Somer, Brock and baby Ada come to town along with my mom, Greg and Reghan who came in town just for the weekend. I loved having my family around and getting to ooohh and aaahhh over Ada. She is just the cutest. We put her crib in my closet and she didn't make one peep throughout the night and I didn't hear her cry once while she was here. She's just the happiest little soul.

*We carved pumpkins with our friends the William's who also threw a bomb Halloween party.

*On 11.11.11 we attended my friend Jody's birthday party. She went all out with the 11 business and served us 11 courses of food. Also, at 11:11 pm we drove to a nearby park on the water and made wishes while we lit lanterns into the sky! It was AMAZING to see all of the lanterns in the sky over the water and city lights.

*Also, in November Thanksgiving and my birthday were the highlights of the month. On Thanksgiving we got up early and went over to the Capitol where Michael played some football with work friends. It was pretty amazing, the weather was perfect and they let them set up the field right on the grass in front of the Capitol.

*We also stopped by the US Botanical Gardens, I have been wanting to go since we moved here but haven't made the time. The gardens were gorgeous that they had fun Christmas displays! It definitely put us in the holiday spirit.

*For my birthday we did a little black Friday shopping, which was completely hastle free since there's a Best Buy, Costco, and huge mall a block away from our apartment. We went to the Newseum, which I was really excited about because I'd been wanting to go but have been too cheap to spend the $$. When all the museums around are free it's hard to want to spend money to go to one, but I'm glad we did. Later we went to Georgetown and did some shopping, ate at one of our favorite restaurants and got dessert at Serendipity.

*For now, that basically wraps up our lives. Another highlight is that Michael is officially a CPA, he has been studying day and night for the past 7 months for all of his tests and I'm so proud of him. I feel so blessed to have him in my life, he is truly my best friend. Sometimes we sit around and laugh about how we are the same person and how we are lucky we found each other because I don't think anyone else could put up with me like he does.

June Highlights

We've had a crazy busy few weeks, here are some highlights of our month so far!

*Spending time in Georgetown

*Going to Shake Shack opening night in DC (Best burger + shakes around if you ask me!)

*Enjoying the beautiful summer weather we're having on our balcony

*Eating at We, The Pizza for the first time

*Loving our pool time

*Kabob Palace is a must if you're in town

*Lunch w/ Michael on Capitol Hill

*Last, but not least, I got an internship with NPR! The biggest change yet. I will still be working at J.Crew some nights and weekends but, for the most part I will be at NPR. It's 40 hours a week and paid, which is awesome. I'm really excited for the chance to do something in my field. My first day is Monday, I'm sure I'll be back with a lot of stories from my first week!

The Perfect Hamburger

Michael & I are not burger connoisseurs but-- we do know a good burger when we eat one. This weekend we entertained for the first time since we've been here and it went really well if I do say so myself. Outside by our pool we have picnic tables with grills. We had one of Michael's co-workers over and his wife and little boy. We served some of Michael's families favorite dishes including shrimp salad, turkey, fruit, chips, etc. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to grill again today. Right now Williams Sonoma has the most delicious looking hamburger on display in their store front. So we looked it up & found this recipe. It was seriously delicious! Perfect for a warm summer night.

We grilled the buns and topped them with havarti cheese, bacon, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup & pickles for Michael. My mouth is still watering.

Baby Ada

The weekend I came in town, as I mentioned in my previous post, was also the weekend Somer was due. We waited all weekend for her to have the baby, but no such luck. On Sunday they had the decision to make if they wanted to be induced on Monday. I didn't want to pressure them, but i'm SO happy, that they decided to have the baby that Monday! Reghan, Lindsey & I stopped by the hospital around 3 o'clock to just check up on Somer and Brock. When we got there we asked the nurse where they were and she told us to just go in. Turns out we had perfect timing! Somer had just had baby Ada about 20 minutes ago!

Grandma Reeder

A few days after I got to DC, I got a call from my mother that my grandma was very ill and may pass away soon. It was only a few days later that we got the news that she had passed. With only being in DC a few days and just paying the money to fly out here, I wasn't sure I was going to make it back to Utah for the funeral. After a lot of thought- I decided that it was important for me to be there and I'm so glad that I was able to go.

My grandma's greatest joy was her posterity. I can only imagine her joy when she saw her whole family there to remember her. My grandma requested that at her funeral she have all her granddaughters sing her favorite primary song, "My Heavenly Father Loves Me." Every one of her granddaughters was there and it was so special to sing with my cousins. They are all such amazing women and I know that my grandma was watching and singing along with us.

It was also so special to have some time to spend with my sisters. Somer's due date was the day of the viewing so she wasn't able to come up, but after having no contractions for awhile she decided to come to the funeral. We decided that Grandma Reeder was spending time with little Ada and wasn't ready to let her go yet.

This picture below isn't the best, but it shows how beautiful the day was of my grandmas funeral. It was mentioned at her funeral that this past winter she said that she was ready to go...but that she was going to wait until spring when the flowers bloomed. It was rainy the whole time I was in Utah except for the day of the funeral, I can't help but think that that day was so beautiful just for my grandma.

I love my grandma so much and even though she will be missed I know that there was a joyous reunion of her with my grandpa. That thought alone made me happy. I never knew my grandpa (he passed away when my mom was in college) but I know that my grandparents loved each other and that my grandma missed him. I'm so happy that she's able to be with her sweetheart again.

Second Anniversary

A few days after I came into town, Michael and I celebrated our second anniversary. Michael had to work during the day, but I was able to meet him for lunch and we made the most of our day!

After work, Michael met me in Georgetown and we headed to dinner at J.Paul's. We were going to go back to where we ate last year for our first anniversary, but then last minute decided to try something different. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was so amazing.

It was perfect weather out, so after dinner we just walked around Georgetown. We went up Wisconsin and saw the most beautiful homes and churches.

After, we decided to go to Iceberry (our favorite spot for frozen yogurt) and get their honeydew melon flavor with raspberries, mangoes, and chocolate chips on top. It was one of our favorite treats last summer & it was as delicious as we remembered.

Love my husband & love that we have a day to celebrate our love every year!

Made It.

After a busy week of finals and endless packing. I finally packed my last bag up and headed to the airport. It's not easy to say goodbye- I prefer I'll see you soon.

I was sad to leave my family, but SO excited to finally see Michael after 10 long days of being apart.

Michael knew exactly what I wanted to do when I first got in....go to Uncle Julios! It was delicious of course and I ordered enough to feed an army. Luckily it makes for delicious left overs.

So happy to be reunited!

That night Michael took me to our new home. Our previous place that I mentioned on Capitol Hill, ended up falling through at the last minute. So Michael and his dad found a place and moved in on the same day. What I first thought was a disaster, has ended up being a blessing. Funny how that always seem to happen huh? (Big thanks to Michael's dad, Brent, for making the long trek w/ him across the country and for helping us settle into our new home. We couldn't have done it without you!)

Our apartment is more expensive than the other place, but we have a lot more offered to us and it's in a safer area. The fact that I can walk five minutes to work is another plus. Michael gets reimbursed for his metro fare, so basically we pay $0 in transportation every month. How awesome is that! Also, it doesn't hurt that we have a gym and pool. Which we other wise wouldn't have. The dry cleaning lady downstairs is also becoming our friend, or I guess I should say I think she has the hotts for Michael. She says in her little chinese accent, "oh he so tall, dark, handsome, huh??" Ha.

Well, 2 posts for one day I think is going to do it for me. So I hope everyone has an awesome weekend! I'll be back Monday!

The Graduates.

Well hello there friends. I know that it has been far too long since I've updated this blog of mine. To say the least, life has been crazy this past month. But a good crazy. We are enjoying life here on the east coast and I can't wait to share what we've been up to! As for now I'm going to attempt to catch up. First, we graduated!! YAY! I still don't think that it's sunk in. Since Michael left before his graduation (and mine) we had 2 graduation parties on Saturday w/ the Adamson's and Sunday with the Sybrowsky gang. It was such a fun weekend. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us. We felt so loved.

While we were at my dad's we took some maternity pictures of Somer. I'll have to post more later, they actually turned out pretty cute. (Update: Somer is no longer pregnant and I have a new precious baby niece Ada!)

Grad Partay.

Michael and I definitely got spoiled by our families for graduation. Again the Adamson's showered us with the most thoughtful gifts. We feel so blessed to have such awesome family. I am officially an owner of a Tag Heuer watch. The ultimate grad gift that graces every Sybrowsky girls wrist.

For those of you who don't know, my Michael is the biggest Duke fan you'll ever meet. Especially Duke basketball. So when I was thinking of what to get him for graduation naturally a Coach K signed picture came to mind. I was able to find one and get it framed for him. He was shocked! It was awesome.

Michael also outdid himself. I honestly thought that he didn't get me anything, with the move and last week of school I figured he'd just get me something after we got settled in DC. So, when he handed me a card I thought, "oh he'll just say I'll get you whatever you want when we get to DC." BUT, to my surprise as I opened the card something fell out. It was a wedding band!! I have just had my engagement ring for the past two years, I never felt deprived that I didn't have a band but for some reason outside of Utah if you don't have a band on everyone asks when you're getting married. When I worked in Georgetown last summer I got it at least twice a day. So now, I'm officially taken. It was so thoughtful and I'm so grateful for such a wonderful husband who I love so much.

I will have to do a whole other post about my graduation day. But, here I am. All grown up in my cap and gown. So weird.

Today Michael & I have been married for two years, can you believe it?? Neither can I! I can honestly say that it's been the best years of my life since I've known him and life seems to just keep on getting better. I couldn't have picked a better match. He's everything and more than I ever could've wished for in a husband.

This new stage of life that we're starting is scary but exciting. We're in a new city and feel like we're all grown up. But, there's no one that I'd rather grow up with or grow old with than Michael. Sometimes we sit and are shocked at where our life is.

I'm meeting Michael at the office for lunch then in Georgetown later for dinner & shopping.

I'll report back with all that's been going on in DC since I've been here, but for now I have 3 big suit cases that are sitting in my living room calling my name to unpack them.

I love my Michael.

Our New Home.

As of tonight Michael & I officially have an apartment! Yahoo! We couldn't be more excited. It's on the CUTEST street in Capitol Hill and just a few blocks from Union Station, which means Michael will have about a fifteen minute walk to work. It's a studio (aka super small) but clean, updated and close to everything!

We are one of six apartments in this cute yellow house with the red door pictured below.

Michael posted his car on KSL tonight too about 30 minutes ago and it sold in literally 5 minutes with 157 page views and 15 million calls! Crazy!

So basically- things are moving along. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Conference weekend is always one of the best of the year. Michael and I have so much on our plates right now that it's nice to have an excuse to relax and be spiritually fed. Our check list is still off the charts but we did manage to finally get a few major things done this weekend. Michael leaves for DC in three weeks so the pressure is on.

We had an unpleasant surprise here in Utah Sunday morning...can you believe how much snow we got?! Madness.

A lot of our weekend was spent like this, staring at a computer trying to find a place to live.

We haven't had a tun of luck yet finding the right place for us, but I'm optimistic we'll find one just fine.

Saturday night I was able to get together with some of my girlfriends & catch up on everyones lives. We made dinner and ate muddy muddies and reminisced about all the crazy things we did in high school. I can't believe I've almost been graduated for five years...FIVE years what! When did I become the adult? I'm married, moving across the country, husband has his first salary full time job and I'm next. So much has changed and I look forward to seeing how things change in the next five years.

Busy week-- but excited for the weekend again already.

Looking forward to spending time with some friends & family again before the big move.

A few nights ago I was able to go out with some friends to celebrate Adrienne, Jessie & Jacob's birthday! We went to Simply Thai & it was a delicious night filled with fun chats and free coconut ice cream with sparklers for the birthdays!

Happy birthday to Jacob TODAY! Whoot. Thanks for making my Sarah so happy.

Good news!

Thursday morning Michael had a meeting with Senator Hatch, we were excited and nervous (guess you could say I was just nervous) for the meeting. During the meeting Senator Hatch basically outlined responsibilities that Michael would have in his office and offered him a job in his DC office as a part of the finance committee! We honestly couldn't be more excited. We have been applying for other jobs not knowing what would happen, but being in DC just feels right. I'm so excited to see what the future holds for us.

Since we've been married we've moved from Utah to Miami to Provo to DC to Draper-- now back to DC. We hope it's our last move for awhile. It's crazy to think that when we leave it isn't just for the summer and we won't be back in the fall. It will be hard to leave family and friends but hope that we get a lot of visitors!!

After Michael left the Senator's Salt Lake office on Thursday he got people in Hatch's office calling him to help with the Mark Zuckerberg event that happened on Friday of last week. I got to help find people to hand Mark sweatshirts representing each of the colleges in Utah. I got to go on stage and hand Mark a sweatshirt! The Student Body President from UVU who is also a family friend of my brother-in-law Taylor sent this picture to Michael tonight.

It was a great experience and I can't wait for all the big changes ahead!

We had a busy weekend-- mostly filled with driving and taking care of my cousins while my aunt + uncle went out of town. Saturday I took my cousin Anna with me to meet Somer at the Gateway with the girls. They were so excited to get treats!

We also watch our fair share of basketball. Husband loves him some march madness.

We've got an exciting week ahead of us. I don't want to jinx anything so I'm going to keep my mouth shut, but hopefully I can share some exciting news soon!

Last night my niece Greta slept over to have a "sleepover with grandma night" since my mom is in town. She makes everything better in life, her little personality has developed so much this past year and I love who she has become and can't wait to see how she develops in the future.

She loves everything girly and princess- and always has a smile on her face.

Today when I left for school, she told me that I couldn't go because then who would take care of all of us?

I love her and I'm glad that she'll be there when I go home today.

Valentines proved once again to be one of my favorite days Michael and I had a yummy breakfast, I went to school and saw flowers and balloons everywhere with love just in the air!

Later, Michael came home with beautiful flowers for me...then we went to dinner + a movie.

I made these yummy cookies featured here + replaced the kisses with hearts! Yum!

Tonight we're going to continue our V-Day activities, Michael said I planned enough stuff for three nights! (Which I don't mind.) Activities might include a little O.C.-- Michael and I first bonded over our mutual love for cottage cheese and The O.C. Anyone else still wish this show was on?

One of our favorite things to do while we were in D.C. was to go to the Eastern Market. This weekend they're hosting some Valentine's activities! If we were there we'd be packing ourselves a picnic to watch "Chocolat" and then listen to some local music.

Of course we'd do some shopping and Michael would get me some of their amazing flowers!

We'd probably have to stop by and get some of their famous "blue bucks" as well

A girl can dream right? Maybe next year.

This song came on the radio this morning while I was driving to school and decided that it should be my new theme song. January was a rough month for us with a lot of ups and downs and uncertainty's, one day we just decided to move on and live life for the moment and not worry (too much) about our future.

I can't even explain how happy I am that January is over. In my opinion it's the hardest month of the year to get through. Now that it's February one of my favorite months- I can focus on new things! One of which being-Valentines day and the fact that we're one step closer to spring and warm weather!

I got this email a few days ago from Williams-Sonoma and have been obsessed with this waffle pan ever since! Seems like the perfect fun breakfast for the hubby and I on Valentines!

Even though I'm glad January is over we did get to see a few Sundance films this past weekend- the best we've seen yet at the festival. If you have the chance in the future I highly recommend Like Crazy and Another Earth.

To my friends out there who I haven't spoken to in awhile, I'm sorry. Just know I think about you often and miss you.

Those who know me well know that I have an obsession not only with J.Crew but with J.Crew's sister store Madewell. I've been shopping there for years, but sadly don't get to go to store as often as I would like since my dad moved to Utah. Luckily for me they finally launched their on-line store a few months back, which only feeds to my obsession!

I want everything in stripes. I wouldn't even mind if I could only wear stripes! Every one of these items are perfection to me.

Now you have an obsession too, dont you?

Today is the day...

That I applied for graduation!! Michael applied a few weeks ago and has already been approved. I honestly questioned if this day would ever come + now $20 dollars later it's official. We are so excited to enter the next phase of our life and see what adventures lie ahead.

It's going to be weird come May that there's no more school in our recent future. Then we'll be entering the real world, bring on the job hunt!

On another note: My old roommate Katie was in town from London over the break + I was able to go to lunch with her and the old crew from 1326. (Minus Jen who was missed.) I was glad that we were able to work out a time to get together + catch up!

Anyways- that's my last bit to share of the break. It was a great one.

I'm off to class then it's pizza + Duke game night for us!

STF + Red Iguana 2

Slowly but surely I'm getting through the last events of Christmas break. Greg's last night in town they wanted to take us to dinner, so to Red Iguana we went for the second time and it was even more delicious than the first time!

The last night my mom was in town we went out for dessert and dinner. In that order. We got cupcakes at the Sweet Tooth Fairy then my mom decided she wanted french fries so to Five Guys we went...

It was a great to have my mom + Greg here over Christmas break- we hope to see you guys again soon!

Christmas Day

Christmas day was great this year. We spent the morning at the Adamson's who spoiled us as always. I can honestly say I have the most thoughtful in-laws. Michael + I both commented that this year there wasn't one thing that we didn't love. Thanks guys!

In the afternoon we went to my dad's for a few hours + opened presents. The guys got these great cuff links from the Eastern Market in D.C. that my dad got when he visited us this summer along with matching french cuff shirts with their initials embroidered on the cuff with coordinating black + white ties. Fab.

I didn't manage to take many pictures on Christmas but did manage to get a picture of:

B: Lulu re-arranging grandpas pantry. If you know anything about my dad he's VERY particular with the placement of everything in his house, including his pantry. Her re-arranging didn't last long when g-pa saw what was going on!

We then scooted back over to the Adamson's for the evening we relaxed and enjoyed the remainder of our Christmas day enjoying each others company.

New Year..

New calendar?

I'm not usually one to get excited about a calendar, but I saw this in my daily email from Paper Source + think it's adorable!

It comes in a clear case that you can put on your desk, but I like the idea of using it as wall art as well.

Hope everyone is having a good start to their new year, we're staying busy with school + work as usual. But, it's our last semester and we couldn't be happier to finally be college graduates in a few short months! Yay!

The Big 24!

We started Michael's birthday celebration with his family on Sunday, his mom made a delicious meal as usual, opened presents, and enjoyed family time.

The next day I got him Kneaders breakfast, we went to the gym, and went to a movie with

Greg + Shay who were in town for the holidays.

Then I took him to the Red Iguana, which was delicious! He was a happy happy boy. Get Michael some authentic cheap mexican food and he's a happy boy!

We wandered around the Gateway (Anthropologie was having a huge sale yikes!) You know you have a nice husband when he wants to buy you something on his own birthday.

Then we went to the jazz game. It was the first game that Michael + I had been together (I know pathetic) and the first one that Michael's ever been to where they lost. Regardless we had a great time.

Any day that Michael and I have together where we don't have a million other things on our mind is a treat. We were so happy to have a day together to do whatever we wanted.

I love you Michael. Hope you had a great birthday. You're the best.

This Christmas was different from our usual routine, but in the end we were able to spend time with those who we love + enjoy each other's company with out the stresses of school.

Christmas Eve we spent with my mother + her new husband Greg along with my sisters + Greg's son was able to stop by as well.

Best part of the evening was R + K getting dressed up for the nativity.

Also, I feel like I can finally tell people that Somer's pregnant with another little girl! We're so excited for another addition to the family.

Michael ended the night rocking Eleanor to sleep. He charmed her once again on this trip!

Pre-Christmas Festivities

The week before Christmas I went to Draper park with mom and the Mammen's to see this amazing tree!

Michael was still at work when we went..later at about 12:30 am, I get a call from him that he got a flat tire on the way home. Couldn't have been worse timing in the middle of a huge snow storm. Long story short after changing the tire, the spare went flat and we had to leave the car on the side of the freeway overnight. The next morning we got it towed to the nearest tire shop + bought a new tire. Merry Christmas to us!

The next morning we all got ready to head up to Logan for my cousin Melissa's wedding.

After the temple we went to the luncheon at Maddox. Yummy! They just keep on bringing those rolls around and before you know it you've eaten five.

It was a long day but so fun to see family + how happy Melissa and her new husband are! Congrats again guys!

Hope everyone stayed safe last night through the crazy snowstorm! It took me an hour and a half to get home from work, a drive that usually takes me 20 minutes. Madness! Needless to say we didn't venture out after that.

Right now I am supposed to be writing a 7 page research paper....but of course I am procrastinating as usual and have decided that I'd rather blog. Who wants to write a research paper? Ever?? It's basically the last thing I want to do. I just have to keep on reminding myself that it will all be over tomorrow!

I am currently staring at my Christmas tree while sitting on the couch and eating my fifteenth oatmeal chocolate chip cookie of the day, while Michael is busy studying like a good boy.

Where does he get his motivation? I just don't get it.

He honestly works harder than anyone I know.

I think I'll follow his example and finally get to this paper. Wish me luck.

Birthday/Thanksgiving Day

A lot of people asked me if I was upset to have my birthday on Thanksgiving this year, but in all honesty I wish that my birthday was on Thanksgiving every year. I think it's easy to get caught up in expectations for birthdays and for me I loved focusing on all the things in my life that I am grateful for. I wasn't able to be around all my family this year, but it's definitely what I'm most grateful for this year. I have the best family including the Adamson's who are the sweetest in-laws, I couldn't be more grateful for them. They constantly amaze me with how thoughtful they are.

There's a lot of pictures coming up...but I couldn't resist posting them. Especially of the kiddos. We spent the morning cooking/hanging out in Kayce's backyard taking pictures of Eleanor and Lulu.

How sweet is the tree house in their backyard? I would've died for one of those when I was a kid.

After most of the cooking was done, we went on a hike while the turkey cooked. Great way to work up an appetite!

Michael was sweet and bought flowers, cake, and presents. I'm grateful for my husband and our marriage. He's constantly amazing me with his hard work and thoughtfulness.

I want to thank Kayce and Taylor for hosting Thanksgiving and for providing the MOST delicious Thanksgiving meal I have ever had. No joke. Thanks for slaving away to make the perfect meal, we were all very grateful!

I love this picture of Michael and Eleanor. She is in love with him...and he is in love with her. During dinner she was fussy and was only happy while Michael was holding her. It's the cutest thing to see him with her.

The next night Kayce and Taylor got a babysitter for the kids and we went out for another birthday celebration. Went to this swanky restaurant, Rock Sugar, and it was delicious.

The coolest part was the waiting area with the fire.

We then hopped over to the Urth Caffe for some hot chocolate. We just enjoyed each others company while we sat and talked. Great night.

California Thanksgiving

We just got back from our wonderful vacation to L.A. and we're already planning our next trip! It's hard to go from a sunny walk on the beach to four feet of snow. With that said, we were nervous that we wouldn't be able to make it down but we completely missed the storm and made it to L.A. in record time. We stopped in St. George to eat and apparently Cracker Barrel has Blue Bell ice cream! Which we were very excited about until we ate it and discovered that what we ate was NOT Blue Bell. Very disappointing..

The next day we met up with the Mammen's and went to an extreme photography exhibit that was unreal. Then Taylor met up with us and we went to eat at the Stand. Delicious!

That night we headed to the Grove to do some shopping. I love the Grove and the holiday displays were amazing! We stretched our stomachs at Maggiano's for dinner and had the perfect night.

At the Grove they make it snow every night it was so beautiful.

Later that night we made pies, which was a first for me. Taylor is a pro and made perfect pies. It's always nice to learn from the best.

Busy Bees

This weekend was chock-full with events! Friday night I went to my friend Whitney's wedding. She looked beautiful and so happy. Saturday I went to a baby shower for my friend Nina who's having a little boy, then Saturday night my friend Sarah threw the cutest "swap" party! It was fun to get together with the girls and just sit and chat for hours.

Cute right? Sarah did such a good job hosting this shindig.

Yesterday we spoke in church for the first time since we've been married. I was nervous of course and didn't want anyone to come, but some unexpected family came to support us and I'm glad they did. Thanks to everyone who came, we felt so loved.

So now I get to prepare to speak again in 2 weeks at a Relief Society event. Guess it only gets easier with practice!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Looking forward to having this week over and getting to spend time with family in the upcoming weeks, starting with going to see Harry Potter Saturday! Yay!

So I'm sitting here doing homework and listening to music when "Merry Christmas Baby" by Otis Redding comes on...my first instinct is to change the music instantly but then I decided to indulge in just one song and I'm sooo glad I did. Put me in THE best mood. Christmas music makes me so excited for the holidays coming up. Can't believe that Thanksgiving/my birthday is only 2 weeks from Thursday! And we leave to California 2 weeks from today! Yahoo!

This picture was taken up at Sundance during the last film festival...I dislike snow for the most part but seeing it look so pretty in this picture makes me think its about time it comes to welcome in the holiday season.

Last Thursday Great turned 3! For her birthday Greta wanted a yellow party. Somer delivered and threw the cutest party with lots of great food (thanks dad). Fall Wish List

Fall not only puts me in the mood for all things pumpkin and fall activities, it also makes me want to go shopping! J.Crew never lets me down, providing me with an endless amount of wants and needs. Even though I won't be doing much of it this year, I like to dream!

How amazing is this jacket? I love it in the black but since I already have a black jacket the spicy russet color might be a nice addition to the wardrobe! (It comes in tall too which is always an added plus)

I'm not usually too into sweaters, but I have about a million on my wishlist and they torture me while I'm at work.

New shoes always seem to be a must, I've wanted a pair of tortoise flats for awhile.

Also, I can't seem to get enough gingham or stripes in my life. Every shirt I want seems to be stripped or gingham! I guess you can't help what you love.

My list go on and on...but you get the gist!

Palomino Blackwing

I find myself wanting to blog these days, but not having much to blog about. Our life has been taken over by homework and LSAT preparation. My first case study is done and will be turned in in a few short hours! Hooray! Michael takes the LSAT Saturday and has been studying hard day and night every spare second he has. We're excited, nervous, and anxious for this test to be over! Michael decided that he needed the best pencil he could find for his test. Apparently the best pencil was discontinued in 1998, but was re-released on October 1! I had one happy husband! Who knew that someone could get so excited about a pencil?

I am sad that summer is gone, but excited for all the fall festivities! I think that pumpkin pancakes are a must sometime soon. Somer + Brock are going to NYC and we get to babysit Greta and Elsa for 6 days and I'm excited to do all sorts of fun stuff with them! Make cookies, go to Gardner Village, Thanksgiving Point, etc!

Summer Nights

Even though I'm excited for fall weather, I will miss summer nights. In August when the whole family was in town we met at my dads for dinner. Reghan + Kristian weren't supposed to come but they ended up surprising us and it was great to have the family together. (We missed you Taylor.) It ended up being the perfect summer night.

So we all know that I'm obsessed with Gilmore Girls, have been for years. Every year around this time I have the urge to watch GG episodes over and over. They're just classic and I don't think I'll ever get sick of them. I sit on the couch and watch them by myself being most content and laughing out loud at episodes I've seen a thousand times. It's the best. I always get jealous of Rory's bangs in the final season. I like my hair, but always feel like I need something to spice it up. Do I dare cut bangs again? What do you think? I need your advice.

Yay for it being the last day of the school week for me!!

Goodbye BBQ

Last night my cute friend Courtney had a goodbye BBQ at her house to say farewell to friends before she moves to California on Wednesday! I'm sad to say goodbye but I know that she has a lot going for her in the photography business and can't wait to see what she does next! It was a fun night and I loved catching up with good friends. (You were missed Sarah!) Abby + Greg showed up later with baby Riggs who is almost ONE I can't believe it, he's such a stud.

I hope it's not too long before we can all get together again.

The Wednesday before the wedding my sister Lindsey went through the temple. It was really special to have my whole family together in the temple for the first time.

My sister Kayce + I did the flowers for the reception. We were happy with how they turned out, especially since we just got all of the flowers at Costco the day before and didn't know what to expect.

And...they're married!

My friends Cassidy and Sarah were able to come. I was SO excited to see them, it had been months!

The night ended up being perfect. Great weather and great company!

Now everyone's gone, it was really weird to be in my moms house the first week and have her not be here. But, we're happy for her and look forward to visiting her in Portland.

Wedding Week

The week we got home from Yellowstone was busy with family coming in town and wedding festivities. The week started out with Elsa's first birthday party, Somer did a great job with her pink and orange party theme!

We spent a lot of time playing with Axel, Lulu, and baby Eleanor which I can never get enough of. Axel got really into the Where's Waldo books.

Grandma made strawberry smoothies for everyone.

We went up the canyon and did foil dinners, we've done this as a family for the past few years and it's turned into something that I look forward to all summer.

I'm glad that the school week is over and I can have a few hours of rest before work this afternoon.

Island Park

The Tuesday we got home from DC we headed to Island Park for a family vacation with the Adamsons. It was fun to get away with the family and relax. Michael went fishing with his dad the first day we were there while Diane and I relaxed. Went on a walk and wandered around West Yellowstone.

The next day everyone else came up and we went around Yellowstone Park, it was so beautiful. We celebrated Brent's birthday and went to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers that night at the Playmill Theatre! I loved it!

We celebrated Jon's birthday while we were there as well. For his birthday Kim, Jon, and Michael all went golfing. Michelle and I tried to watch them, but we got kicked off the course!

Our last day there, we went to see the waterfalls! They were definitely my favorite to see!

All in all it was a great vacation, with a lot of good memories!

Anniversaries

Before we left for DC I told Michael that I wanted to eat the top of our wedding cake before he left since our anniversary would be celebrated while we were in DC. Well, one thing led to another and of course getting around to eating cake never happened. So we decided that we'd eat it on our second anniversary that we celebrate, which is the night when everything went down for us, first date, first kiss, etc. 8-8-08.

I think this is a horrible picture of me, but I'm pretty sure I threatened to be so upset if he messed up my face with cake. Hence the fork into my mouth, with my mouth opened in an unflattering/awkward way.

This time I wasn't so worried about my face looking perfect. I still look awkward but at least he's actually feeding me the cake with his hands. To my surprise the cake was still delicious! I'm glad we didn't let it sit in the freezer for another year.

It has been way too long since my last post + I have been dying for some time to catch up on what we've been up to. We've been back in Utah for 2 weeks now + have not had a spare second! We've been vacationing + my mom got married! But, before I get to those, our last night in DC we went to Jack's + went on a kayaking tour on the Potomac. It was the perfect way to spend our last night.

On Saturday (the day we left) we spent most of the day cleaning but did find time to go to lunch with our friends Greg + Shae.

After, we went home and headed to the airport. We had a miserable time getting to the airport. From here on out we will forever fly into Reagan, even if it costs more! After we got to the airport both of our bags were over by at least 15 pounds, so we stuffed everything we could into our carry ons and threw out basically all of our toiletries. Without going into more detail, I was just glad to get on the plane + fly home safely.

Now, I'm off to get ready for school. Can't believe it all starts tomorrow!

On Monday, Michael had a lunch with Hatch. They had a professional photographer come + take pictures with all the interns. They sent him a copy via email, but he also gets a signed one in the mail. I think he looks so handsome!

Also, the other week Michael was able to attend a meeting that Hatch had with Mark Zuckerberg. Below are a few pictures Michael took on his iPhone. During the meeting Michael added him as a friend on Facebook + they continued to have a little chat, some of which I posted below!

Last Weekend...

This past weekend my dad, sister Lindsey, great Aunt Emeline, sister Reghan and her husband Kristian were able to come to town to visit! It was such a great weekend, with perfect weather! It wouldn't have been a Sybrowsky weekend without starting the trip out with a trip to Uncle Julio's. I know you guys are probably sick of having me talk about it, but with all these visitors that come + want to go, it's hard not to!

My dad recently went to India + after we ordered he handed out presents! I'm not going to lie my dad has got good taste + he seems to know exactly what each of us would want. I guess it comes with practice buying for 6 girls for years. He got me this India turquoise necklace, that I love! It's pictured in most pictures below. Thanks dad!

He also decided to pick up a "not Texas, definitely not Texas," shirt for me on his last trip to Texas. It's so true.

This is Emeline. So glamorous! She was such a trooper the whole trip + a hoot! We were so happy that she was able to make the trip.

The whole gang. I have to admit that for some reason, this weekend included great group photos. I don't know why, but every one we took I think turned out so great!

After Uncle Julio's we went to Georgetown, walked around + went and got some Iceberry. That night I was up all night sick + didn't think I was going to be able to go out. But, I decided to anyway despite the fact that I felt like crap for most of the day. I missed out on breakfast, but thankfully started to feel better by dinner! Sar, I know you wanted to know what "the brick" was...here it is!

We then went to some of the Smithsonian's and to dinner. We love this restaurant Clyde's in Georgetown + found one more near us. It ended up being so fun. The Clyde's in Georgetown is tiny + this one was huge + full of all this amazing art! It was great.

We then taxied it over to the monuments.

It was perfect weather + a perfect night.

The next day- we met up at the Natural History Museum + went and saw a Wild Ocean 3D movie.

After we wandered through American History and sadly R+K had to head back to NY. It was sad to see them go.

That night we ate at a swanky Italian restaurant in Georgetown + got some cupcakes. We headed down to the water to eat our delicious cupcakes with a beautiful sunset.

Monday morning- we went over to the Capitol + Michael got someone to cover one of his duties so he could take us on a tour of the Capitol. After, we went to the Library of Congress. I can't believe that I hadn't been to this building yet since we've been here. I was amazed. It was so beautiful!

After, we went to Good Stuff Eatery + got some good burgers and shakes before heading back to the hotel.

I was sad to see them go, but it was such a great weekend! Thanks again dad for everything! You're the best. Countdown to SL: 4 days! Can't believe it!

We've been busy this past weekend, I have a lot to catch up on! But first, last Thursday was my last day with Jack. I'm going to miss this little man! He's grown so much since I first started. Friday morning Kayce + I decided to head over to the mall. When we got off the metro there was this little farmers market going on, Kayce stopped to get some breakfast.

I love baby Eleanor.

We toured the American History museum quickly, only visiting the essential exhibits:

Julia Child's kitchen, ruby red slippers and the First Ladies dresses.

Then we walked to the WWII monument + dipped our feet in the water. It was much needed for the 100+ degree weather we were walking in! Eleanor was such a trooper.

That night we met K+T at Ray's Hell Burger, we took Eleanor outside + played while they enjoyed dinner with friends.

Later we went to Iwo Jima Memorial, it was a nice walk with the sun finally down.

Saturday morning we went to the Eastern Market. Taylor's old roommate in DC came and met us with his family. For breakfast we changed up our order + got french toast + the brick. I think that it was our best breakfast yet!

We then all squished in the car and went to the Portrait Gallery + the East Wing of the National Gallery.

That night we babysat Eleanor while Kayce + Taylor went on a date. We sure miss you guys + hope your travels back to Cali are safe! Love you + can't wait to see you again in August!

K+T Come to DC

This past week my sister Kayce, her husband Taylor and my niece Eleanor were able to come + visit! Kayce + Taylor met and fell in love in DC + haven't been back since Kayce's graduation from GW five years ago. It was blazing hot while they were here, but it was so fun to have them here! Taylor's companies headquarters are in Bethesda so we ventured up there the first night they were in town to visit! Neither of us had been up there yet + we loved it! Cute streets lined with shops + cute restaurants. I would die to live in one of these apartments below.

The next day while Michael + Taylor worked Kayce and I went to the Freer Gallery, saw the peacock room finally! Then spent the rest of the afternoon in the West wing of the National Gallery.

That night we went to Uncle Julio's with my cousin Carin, her husband JC and their little boy Zenock who are also in town for a few weeks on business. I haven't seen Carin in years since she lives in Alabama, so it was so fun to be able to catch up!

Pioneer Royalty

So at Senator Hatch's office every year they throw a big 24th of July party. As part of that party they have "Pioneer Royalty." People in the office are nominated + then they campaign for the next week, vote, and a King + Queen are named at the party.

Michael was asked to participate in the campaigning for one girl in the office + came up with the idea to do a Million Dollar Baby look-alike poster to kick it off. He was working on it last night (I fell asleep)...and when I woke up this morning..

He had done this! Picture of the lady he's campaigning for in the middle, Hatch on one side, Reagan on the other. I thought it was pretty clever + cool so I thought that I'd share!

Can't believe it's already Friday! We're going to see Inception tonight anyone else?? Michael has been waiting all summer for it.

Baked + Wired

During our first few weeks in DC, we went to PB after going to Georgetown Cupcake, the guy who was helping us told us that there is a cupcake place down the street that's a hundred times better + you don't have to wait in a long line to get in.

Since then we've made it a point to go there but haven't gotten around to it. Mainly because every time we remember we want to go it's on the way home from the movies + it's closed. When Michelle was in town Michael + her went while I was at work and they were completely sold! So much that Michael even suggested we go last night. I am so glad we did! We took the walk down by the river...it was a perfect little outing.

I tried taking pictures of our cupcakes-- I got strawberry + Michael got the raspberry lemon but they didn't turn out. My mouth was watering fresh strawberries...mmm....

I'm going to miss DC so much....who doesn't love a good cupcake + a scenic walk?

I would also like to give a shout out to my niece Lulu, today she turns 3!! We love you Lulu + wish we could be with you on your special day!

Gettysburg

Michael + I on Saturday were able to go to Gettysburg with the Washington Seminar group. It was a loooooong day but I'm glad that we got the opportunity to go.

Yes-- this is the only picture of us from the trip in the gift shop, via iPhone, with Kanye shades on.

I found it amazing that most of Gettysburg is in it's original condition. They've done a lot over the years to preserve it. Also, a lot of the landmarks there where placed by men who served in the war so they're pretty exact on what happened where.

After we left Gettysburg we headed to Harpers Ferry. We wandered the town then went down + Michael skipped rocks on the river before heading home.

It turned out to be a beautiful day! I was sad that I didn't have a bathing suit on so I could jump right in the water. I am dying to go swimming!

On a side note: Michael got this package on Friday!

He's been anticipating this for weeks! It came at least a week and a half early. He is in love! Just like I thought he would be....I think we'll be iPhone owners for life.

Anyways, that's basically what we've been up to besides working + studying like crazy! I can't believe we only have 4 weeks left in DC, time is flying!! Hope you all had a good weekend.

Practically Perfect In Every Way

Last night we had the opportunity to go and see Mary Poppins at the Kennedy Center. It was unbelievable! When Michelle bought our tickets we were way in the back, but I guess our tickets went through the same time as another order so our seats were taken + they had to upgrade us. Well.....we had the best seats! Right on the floor + in the front section.

I can't say enough about how amazing the cast was, Mary was perfect, Bert was amazing and they had the perfect Mr. Banks! We were all giddy after singing the tunes on our way home. Mary flew over us + Bert tapped on the ceiling! I'm so glad that we got to see it while it was here. If you ever get the chance to go, it's a must!

Fourth Weekend!

This past weekend was perfect! (Except when I had to work.) Friday we went to the Smithsonian Museum of American History with Michelle + were able to see some exhibits we missed out on before. Then we went to the Holocaust Museum, which was something on our list that we hadn't gotten to yet. It was insane, there was so much to see you could stay for hours. Sadly, I had to go to work so that pretty much ended that day.

Saturday we woke up early + headed over to the Eastern Market, never fails for a good time. Breakfast was at its best (even though we had to wait in line for an hour)-- and when I say we I mean Michael did while we shopped. Nice hubby.

We got the works-- Michelle the "blue bucks" + Michael and I shared chocolate chip pancakes + eggs benedict with crab....mmmm....

After we were done shopping we headed to Arlington Cemetery. I had no idea that JFK + Jackie were buried there.

Next, we went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I was amazed at their preciseness, it was unreal. To witness the changing of the guard was pretty incredible. I don't know how they do it. The Tomb is guarded 24-hours a day 365 days a year.

The next day was the 4th. We decided to go to a National's game. It was the perfect thing to do! We couldn't have had better seats, if we didn't have the shade we wouldn't have made it through the game.

After, we headed to the Capitol/the Mall to steak out for fireworks. We didn't know what to expect. The crowds had already started + the seats for the concert at the Capitol were packed. Everyone wanted to see some David Archuleta!

As the hours went by-- the crowd kept on getting bigger + bigger. I don't know how many were there but it was insane!

It was an amazing sight to see. I loved it!

We thought that the fireworks were supposed to be over Lincoln Memorial, but it ended up that they were right over the Washington Monument! We couldn't have had better seats!

Hope everyone had a good fourth! We feel so blessed to live in this great country + for the opportunity we have to be living in the Nation's Capitol this summer, we're going to be sad to leave! Thanks Michelle for coming + celebrating with us!!

The Zoo!

This past Saturday was my first full day off since we've been here! So, we packed our day full. We decided that we wanted to start our day off by going to the zoo.

We saw the cutest pandas that are on a ten year loan, that's actually up this year, the kids kept on asking if this panda was real-- she was, but just sleepin sleepin...her baby was much more active.

My favorite was the birds, they had a kookaburra, toucans, owls, everything!

Also, who doesn't like flamingos?

Due to the fact that I was about to die of starvation at the zoo, and I refused to pay $5 for a hotdog that probably wouldn't even be good, we headed out and decided to go to 2 Amy's! It ended up being the longest walk imaginable because we were starving and all up hill, at least the street had amazing houses to keep my attention! We heard that next time we went we needed to get these rice, cheese ball things. Soooo good.

On our way back when we were much happier and full, we stopped at the National Cathedral. The seventh largest Cathedral in the world and the 2nd largest in the United States. It was breathe taking.

Later that night one of Michael's best friends was in town (Greg) from San Francisco, so we went out to dinner with him and his wife. They took us to The Carlyle in Shirlington. It was so delicious! I don't think that there is a bad thing on the menu. After, they took us on a tour of Georgetown (him and his wife both went there) then went home because we were exhausted!

It was a fun day + I was glad I finally had the opportunity to hang out with Greg + his wife. The rest of this week has been pretty boring-- just doing a lot of homework and gearing up for a fun weekend with Michael's sister Michelle who gets here today!

I'll report back with our crazy weekend. I hear it's insane in DC over the 4th!

Saturday Is The Best Day

A few Saturdays ago Michael + I went to the East Wing of the National Art Gallery. I somehow forgot to blog about it, but I was talking to my sister Somer about this cake photo below + realized I hadn't!

This part of the gallery was most definitely my favorite. Filled with Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse etc..I couldn't get enough!

The best part though was while we were walking around I looked outside + saw a huge festival going on!

It was the best- I was able to get some mango sticky rice out of it as well!

I'm excited for this Saturday because it will be the first WHOLE Saturday that I'll have off since I started working!

Can you guys believe that it's July next week?? Time is flying! Michael's sister Michelle gets here in a week + we're so excited for our month of visitors to start!

Pizzeria Paradiso

This weekend as usual I worked long days. But, Saturday I did get an hour lunch break so Michael came to Georgetown to meet me. We decided to go to Pizzeria Paradiso. I had heard from a co-worker at J.Crew that it rivals 2 Amy's so of course we had to try it out! In my opinion it wasn't the best we've had. Michael liked it more than 7th Hill Pizza but not more than 2 Amy's. I don't know if I agree with him there, I like 7th Hill better! But, we both agree that 2 Amy's is the best by far in DC!

After we were done eating we were walking around Georgetown + Michael kept on saying that they must be handing out Dr. Pepper because he kept seeing people carrying Dr. Pepper.

Sure enough a block later- there he was!

Then we turned up Wisconsin + a new Apple store appeared out of NOWHERE! I walk these streets multiple times a week + had never seen signs of one. Then all of a sudden it was there with a huge line- people waiting for the 5 o'clock opening, camera crew + everything.

Now the debate is- do I wait in line for the new iPhone 4 that they'll have in store Thursday at 7am?

One of my favorite things about Georgetown is that all the lamp posts have the pots of flowers hanging on them. The flowers are finally getting to the point where they're going to droop over any day, love it!

My sister Kayce finally blogged for the first time in a YEAR yesterday! I am dying at how big her kids are getting.

Check out Eleanor, I can't believe how big she is! She's the perfect little baby, doesn't ever cry.

I love them so much, so sad that we can't be around them more. I remember when Axel was born and now look at him. He's just this big boy now! He'll soon be 5 + Lulu will be 3!

Brock + Somer were able to go to California for almost 2 weeks vacation. They were able to see the Mammen's twice on their trip. I love this picture of them in the bathtub.

Basically, I know I just blogged about these kids but I miss them so much! I'm also jealous that Somer + Kayce were able to get together + I wasn't there!

Movie Night

Last night Michael + I decided to go + see Shrek in 3D! Neither of us had seen the 3rd but decided to go anyway + it was great! I am still mad that I didn't see Alice In Wonderland in 3D so I wasn't going to miss out on Shrek! It was a rainy night here so it was a perfect night to go to the movies.

On our walk home the rain had stopped + we enjoyed the sights of Georgetown. We never get sick of it. Including stumbling across this little French restaurant that is now on my list of places to go before we leave.

I Like Diamonds.

This past week we've been busy with school/work. But, we did find time to celebrate my "special night" for getting on the Dean's List for last school year! Yeahh! To celebrate we decided to go to Uncle Julio's. Never disappoints. After we walked around + finally found a hair place for Michael to get his haircut that wasn't $40! So we took advantage.

Also, we have officially been to all of the Smithsonian's! Every Saturday since I've started working I usually work at 3 or 4 until 10:30 so we've made it a point to go out every morning + do something. Usually it's going to a Smithsonian or the Eastern Market. This past Saturday we went to the Natural History + the Air + Space Museums. I LOVED the gem collection! I tried to take pictures but, they don't even compare to how beautiful and HUGE they are!

The famous Hope Diamond is there. It's a deep-blue 44.5 carat diamond, it's temporarily out of its original setting for its 50th Anniversary of being in the Smithsonian.

Rugby Cafe

Last night my brother in law Taylor came in town for business + we were lucky enough to meet up with him for dinner last night. Michael + Taylor patiently waited for me to get off of work before we headed over to the RL Rugby Cafe in Georgetown. I was excited to try the place out, and it turned out to be half price burger night so of course we all got burgers!

I didn't manage to take any pictures of us but, I did get a picture of my HUGE burger! I got the King's burger with fried egg + pineapple yummm..

It was great to see Taylor + catch up with him at a time that wasn't a huge family event. Thanks Taylor for dinner! We hope to see you + Kayce in July!!

2 AMYS

Michael + I eat pizza at least once or twice a week. It's kind of an obsession of ours to have the best pizza. It all started last summer in Florida when we went to a restaurant called Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza for our 1 month anniversary. We loved it so much that we went every month on the 2nd after that + have continued to find the best pizza wherever we may be.

Before we came to DC Michael had found a restaurant called 2 Amys to go to. We haven't made the time to go yet + kept telling ourselves that we wouldn't eat out again until we went to 2 Amys.

Well...that didn't happen but we did finally make it this past Saturday! It was DELICIOUS! We also went to 7 Hill Pizza over by the Eastern Market when Michael came to see Jack after work one night. It was good as well, but 2 Amys takes the cake from what we've eaten so far! A girl at work told me that there's a pizza place next door to Dean + Deluca in Georgetown that is just as good if not better than 2 Amys so that's next on our list.

The Perfect Day

On Sunday we got up + went to church. We got to sit in on R+K's primary lesson. Neither of us has been to primary in forever + it was quite entertaining. Church has never gone by faster! The children practiced their father's day song, "daddy I love you and daddy I'm proud of you!" Since then it has come into my head constantly.

After we packed up and headed out for our picnic. It was a perfect day at Battery Park! Not too hot with beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty. Also, Reghan packed the perfect picnic. Cream soda, potato salad, grapes, strawberries, fresh bread, chocolate covered pretzels! Yummm. We were loving life, could've stayed there forever.

The family next to us was playing the Beatles + their little boys played and sang along. They knew all the words. It was so cute.

Monday we went to Soho + ate at Cafe Habana. It was delicious! Then we did some shopping before having to head home + pack up. Thanks R+K for a great weekend! Love you + glad that we get to see you again soon in DC!

Now it's back to reality. Michael's coming to help me with Jack tonight when he gets off of work yay!

NYC: Day Two

Saturday we slept in. Reghan + Kristian's room where we were sleeping has no windows so when I thought it was 4 am getting up to go to the bathroom it was really 9 am. You could literally sleep all day in there. Reghan made us pancakes with bananas + chocolate chips in them!

Then Kristian needed to study so Michael + I headed uptown to go to the Met. I love the Met + Michael couldn't get enough. There is a Picasso Exhibit going on right now through August that was amazing. Hundreds of works of art done by Picasso, most I had never seen before.

After the Met we went shopping a little then went and met R+K at the famous Carnegie Deli.

Look at the size of that sandwich! Michael was loving it.

After we stopped and got some treats on our way to see Billy Elliot!

It was an amazing show!

On our way out we passed Billy! (I was too shy to go + take a picture).

Basically, it was a great day.

NYC: Day One

This weekend has been perfect. Michael + I really just needed some time to relax. We just got back from a picnic in the park (post to come). Friday we got to R+K's and went down to South Street Seaport to get some tickets to a show. Then continued to wander around the area + made our way over to Wall Street where we met Kristian when he got off of work.

Capitol Lunch

For lunch today Jack + I decided that we'd go see Michael. I was a little nervous to go at first because last time I took Jack to see Michael for lunch he wet through all of his clothes + was a hungry baby. This time he was pure delight. He slept the whole way there + then woke up just in time to see Michael + continued to smile every time Michael would talk to him.

We got to take the underground train from the Senate building to the Capitol that's only for employees which was pretty cool. Then Michael gave Jack + I a little tour. This building really is so amazing inside + out.

It was a short tour but it was nice to see Michael during the day. It's only a 20 minute walk for me to go visit him so I'm going to try + visit him more often. The walk home is so beautiful with the amazing houses + gardens that I see the whole way. I stopped myself from taking countless pictures of all the pretty trees + flowers that I saw but finally couldn't resist just taking one.

We're headed to New York in the morning + couldn't be more excited for a long weekend with Reghan + Kristian!

Ralph in Paris

This morning on the way to work I stopped + picked up the new Vogue. Inside it gave the scoop on the new Flagship store Ralph Lauren opened in Paris, along with his new restaurant Ralph's. In my life I have dreamed of going to Paris for many reasons and this is one that I'm going to add to the list.

Starting to work at Ralph Lauren at such a young age I really grew to love + admire the company. My time in Dallas + especially in New York working are times that I'll never forget. I'll especially never forget the night that I got to meet + shake Ralph's hand.

Just look at him, he's so classy. I love what his wife Ricky is wearing as well.

One word: Amazing

One day I'll go + bask in all of Ralph's greatness.

For week + weeks we had been told to watch Modern Family. Finally we started to watch + now you could say that we are addicted. Every night when it was a question of what to do...our conclusion was always well lets just watch Modern Family! We got caught up with the season then had to wait patiently for the episodes to come on each week. Now I am going through withdrawals. What are we supposed to do without this show to watch each week?

If you don't watch it then you should. If you do I know that you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about!

So as many of you may know my mother is getting married August 21st! For the small reception that she is having she's asked me to do the flowers/centerpieces. Although I've never done anything like this, I've always been interested and am willing to learn!

As for an update on us..it's been cold and rainy here in DC the past few days which in my opinion is always depressing unless you don't have anywhere to go and you can stay inside cuddle and watch a chick flick.

That has not been the case unfortunately. Haven't had a day off yet and don't think I will until we go to New York next Friday to visit R+K!

Today it has been nicer though + I was able to go on a long walk today with Jack. Which means me + him are back on good terms after keeping him inside all day yesterday.

Uncle Julio's + Ruby Red Slippers

This weekend we didn't have a lot of time together because J.Crew is working me like crazy. But, we decided to make the most of our time. Saturday morning we woke up early + went to the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Our first stop was at the First Lady exhibit, it had all of the Inauguration gowns they wore + more. My favorite was of course Jackie Kennedy + Michelle Obama's was beautiful as well.

The next stop, was to see the Ruby Red Slippers from the Wizard of Oz! Those of you who know me well know that I had quite the obsession with this movie as a child.

We also got to see Julia Child's original kitchen!

When I got home from work that night we decided to try + find where the nearest Uncle Julio's was. Turns out it's only FOUR stops away on the orange line from our apartment! I was so excited! Even more excited that it was a ten minute metro ride instead of an hour drive like it was last summer in Florida!

The food was as delicious as ever + we just keep on adding to our list why DC is the best place to live!

Walks with Jack

Everyone meet Jack, he's the baby that I nanny three days a week.

I have discovered that Jack + I enjoy ourselves the most when we're out on a walk + Jack's in the Baby Bjorn.

I love walking around the neighborhoods over here because the gardens are full of beautiful flowers. Does anyone know what kind these are?

I discovered this house + fell in love. Mostly because of the upstairs patio that has flower pots hung + two huge red umbrellas. Quite the outdoor space.

Jack all strapped in for his walk. Last week it was blazing hot out on the walks so I decided to use the walks as a good time to work out a little.

Michael + I are keeping ourselves busy over here.

Michael's still loving his job + getting a lot of great experience.

City of Brotherly Love

Our first stop in Philadelphia was the Liberty Bell. We got there probably 20 minutes before it opened and there was already a huge line out the door!

Next we went to the Constitution Center + saw a show. After we just played around for who knows how long. Taking picture after picture with the men.

What Michael was looking forward to most was going to get some Philly Cheesesteak.

So we went to Jim's + I would say that it is hands down the best cheesesteak I've ever had!

We spent the rest of the day in the jewelry district + wandering around Philly. It was a fun day though + a first for the both of us being in the City of Brotherly Love.

Valley Forge

This past weekend Michael + I had the opportunity to take a trip to Pennsylvania. Our first stop for our trip was Valley Forge.

We had amazing weather while we were there + Valley Forge was so beautiful. There's a 10 mile loop for runners who get to run with this scenery everyday. I wish that was me.

In front of George Washington's house, where he stayed during that time. Supposedly where he spent his 46 birthday + Martha lived with him there as well. They have gathered that they think they slept in the same bedroom, scandal.

This is the Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge. The stainless glass work throughout the church was incredible.

We had a great time while we were there.

Side note: My dad has been in Dubai + is now in India for a week. We received an email from him this morning. One line from his email included, "Evening camel ride and barbecue with belly dancer on Persian carpets in the middle of the desert. One of a kind." I think he's barely having a good time....and I am barely jealous of his adventures.

I'll be back with our adventures to Philly!

New Things

Our apartment is in need of some TLC. I've been trying to pick up a few things here + there. The other day I was at Pottery Barn + got these cute vases for only $3 a piece! I thought that they'd be perfect to put some of the flowers that were on their way out, like these roses. It's the perfect little addition to our place along with the new Vincent Van Gogh print I got the other day at the art gallery.

I also decided to pick up a few of these plates at PB. In our apartment we have one or two plates that don't match + I needed something to spruce up the place. I love that they're plastic so I don't have to worry about them, but so cute! We got the red/floral combination shown below.

Tonight we're going to the restaurant next door for Tuesday 20 cent wings! Michael's stoked.

Also, Brent + Diane thank you for the anniversary card you sent us!

One Year Anniversary

For our anniversary- we kept on trying to think of all these fancy things to do like go on a day cruise or go to a ballet or concert. After a lot of consideration we decided to just have a relaxing day + focus on enjoying each others company. So it started early with a trip to the Eastern Market for some famous blueberry pancakes.

I love the market for many reasons but the flowers make it for me. If I had more than one big vase out here that wasn't already filled with flowers I would've bought them! (Next time).

Michael got an omelette + I got the pancakes it was the perfect combo.

After we walked around the flea marked + I picked out about 50 things that I have to have before the summer ends!

Aren't these mirrors amazing? Kayce told me to look out for the ones below, when she lived here she never bought one + has regretted it ever since. Don't think I'll make that mistake! They have a few vendors for the ones below + this mirror is part of my present from Michael for our anniversary!

After, we went to the National Gallery of Art..we passed the Washington Monument on the way + I couldn't help but snap a pic during the day.

I have a mild obsession with flowers...we go to an art gallery + I'm still taking pictures of all the beautiful flowers.

We stopped by home to freshen up + then went to Georgetown for the remainder of the night. Just a few blocks from the shops the Thai Embassy was having an open house. They had cultural dances going on, including Thai Boxing. Also, tuns of food + displays.

That evening we went to a restaurant in Georgetown called Clyde's for dinner. We had perfect seats to watch the Kentucky Derby.

We were tempted to get two Lobster's but refrained. It was delicious though.

All in all it was a great day-- We were able to cross off some things on our list of things to do while we are here.

On our actual anniversary-- we went to church where we were both called to be the wards record updaters (I can't seem to remember the official name but you get the picture). I didn't know it until they called my name..then after came + apologized that they called me before they even talked to me about it. I was happy to accept.

After, a couple in the ward invited us over to their home for dinner. They had a feast prepared for us! As you can imagine Michael was more than pleased. We hung out at their amazing home for awhile then they took us home. We were going to try to go to the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens that day but we didn't get home until later than expected. So we ended up just hanging out for the remainder of the day. It was perfect.

I love Michael so much + can't wait for our many anniversary's to come.

Georgetown Cupcake

Well it's been a crazy busy weekend + now it's a rainy morning here in DC. Michael + I celebrated our first wedding anniversary this weekend. Time really does fly! (Post to come). Friday night I had been wanting to check out Georgetown Cupcake + they were delicious. Michael liked them + he usually doesn't like cupcakes, so that's saying something!

We only had to wait about 10 minutes to get in-- which is apparently rare for them.

We decided to get the coconut + triple chocolate cupcake!

When we came in there was a whole film crew in the shop + I think they were wrapping up some kind of segment. Not sure for who, but they had all these fresh flowers out. Not sure if that's a regular occurance or just for the show. Either way, I always enjoy some fresh flowers!

Oh Michael.

I thought I'd snap a picture of the J.Crew in Georgetown too...love.
